What's New?

The new public site has several objectives not previously addressed:

  • Convey the breadth/amount of work in progress relating to revenue-generating services for the holistic Broadband network
  • Communicate the Forum’s transformation from traditional SDO to one combining agile software-driven implementation with the development of mass markets driven by standardization and interoperability
  • Raise awareness of the Forum’s embracing ultra-fast access, IoT, Cloud CO, migration that enable new virtualized, automated user services
  • To give the project leaders the ability to communicate the impact of some of these innovative projects in progress with video
  • To provide seamless access from all device types with a simpler updated responsive platform and that separates the information intended for Forum members now provided via the members wiki and contribution sites

"Wait, the page title says 'sites.' There's more than one?"

This is the new Broadband forum public web site. It works in concert with several other BBF members sites:
  • code: the Forum's software repository
  • ARO: The Forum's traditional contribution site contains thousands of archived contributions
  • wiki: the Forum's new working site for development of new projects and work areas
  • jira: project management

Finding your way around

The site is organized into four main areas accessed from the simple main menu at the top of all pages:

Standards and Software

  • Completed publicly available standard specifications and software with insights into the work in progress

What's happening
  • The Forum's current news, information about events, meetings, discussions and published articles

Implementation
  • Highlights the forum's focus on putting the work into action starting with the interoperability and certification

About
  • Everything about the Forum, it's vision, contributors membership, policies and members'-only resources

Where did we put the stuff that was on the previous site?

Firstly, the link to the contribution site is on the About/Members menu right-hand column

Members-only informative pages previously located on this site are now located on the new BBF wiki.
Links to these pages are to be found below

The links to popular pages on the members' wiki has a similar fly out menu

Some pages on the previous site have been consolidated in the interests of simplifying the site navigation

  • BBF Mission and Vision also includes annual reports and history
  • Who and why includes Forum ambassadors
  • Links to older IP/MPLS, DSL and Frame Relay work are via the Technical Reports page

The above links and structure are subject to change.

Feedback, Comments, Issues

With 1000+ downloadable resources moving location and all new sets of pages and web sites, we have no expectation of perfection as we launch the site. So we would appreciate you contacting us with feedback, comments, suggestions and any issues that you come across via the Contact Us page. You may also contact me at info@broadband-forum.org
