Accelerating the broadband industry through global BASe Series
By Tiffany Groves, Marketing Coordinator at Broadband Forum and Rhonda Heier, Director of Membership Development at Broadband Forum
Collaborating and exchanging ideas with the global broadband community is key to our progress towards standardizing and advancing the broadband landscape. The Broadband Acceleration Seminar (BASe) series will continue to focus on three main broadband ecosystem elements: Connected Home, Fiber Access, and Network & Service Delivery. Our 2022 line-up of events, both virtual and face to face, comes at a crucial time for the industry and will continue to deliver key insights into the state of broadband innovation, technology, standards, and ecosystems.
2021 was a resounding success for BASe and vBASe. Hosting 145 guest speakers at more than 18 separate events (a record for the BASe series!). There were 400 average attendees for webinars, and 600 attendees for vBASe events.
The mission of the BASe series is to educate the industry on the innovations to accelerate broadband globally. Known for its informative and valuable presenters, the BASe series has gained loyal attendance from service providers, analysts and vendors to gain important insights.
Reaching new heights in 2022
Due to the support of our growing number of BASe Sponsors, we are hosting a combination of in-person and virtual (vBASe) events, with at least 11 vBASE events and seven BASe events on the calendar. 2022 will be a year when physical conferences and industry events will return to meet industry demand. You can see all future BASe events here.
This year’s events schedule is derived from three key expectations:
- Continued demand for free webinars on selective technology hot topics and virtual events
- A focused demand for national key market physical events in partnership with industry associations and influencers
- A reinvigorated demand for regional and global physical events.
We are able to host these events due to the BASe Sponsors that support our mission of educating the market through thought leadership. It is our pleasure to work with this growing list of BASe Sponsors.
Key virtual events in H2 and the return of face-to-face meetings!
Q2 comprises of six scheduled events running from May until June, with three being face-to-face, and three being vBASe events. Rapidly approaching, on May 17th-19th, is our ‘State of Broadband’ Virtual Summit which focuses on some of the major business drivers, deployment updates and technology opportunities that are influencing the industry. It will include a main plenary session, networking and social opportunities, virtual sponsor booths and virtual private meeting facilities. The three-day virtual summit will be dedicated to important topics such as the Connected Home, Access Technologies, and Network Service Delivery. You can register for this free virtual event here.
BASe will also be returning to both North America and Europe during Q2, with BASe at Fiber Connect in Nashville, United States, and BASe at BREKO Fiberdays in Wiesbaden, Germany taking place in mid-June.
The BASe workshop at Fiber Connect will be split into four sessions comprising of “Future of Fiber Access Technology Investment”, “Future Fiber Access Technology Use Cases and Best Practices”, “FTTP and “In-Building” Connectivity Options”, and “Connected User Services: Technology & Standards Advancements for Evolved Broadband Services”. It will include speakers from Airties, Axiros, Calix, DZS, ETSI, EXFO, Friendy Technologies, Futuerwei, InCoax, Nokia, Positron Access Solutions and Radisys.
BASe at BREKO Fiberdays will consist of three segments on “Optical Advancements and Reality Check”, “Fiber access Ecosystem Update”, and “Managed Connected Services and ARPU Opportunity”. We are also pleased to announce that we are returning to face-to-face for this year’s UFBB BASe event in Den Haag, the Netherlands. The broadband technologist’s technical event will examine the current hottest topics and challenges in broadband today. UFBB is designed to meet the requirements for more technical discussion, technical advancements, real life implementations, testing and strategic technical planning as well as valuable peer-to-peer networking.
The year ahead will be rounded off with our face-to-face BASe North America and our Interop Pavilion and multitude of BASe Workshops at this year’s Broadband World Forum.
We are excited to see all of you very soon!
