Operations Manager

Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the administration of BBF’s day-to-day operations. This position works directly with BBF’s vendors, members, and staff in a small team environment that requires flexibility, organizational skills and the ability to “wear multiple hats.” The ideal candidate will be comfortable with business, legal, and technical challenges, and will be able to analyze and optimize operations. Work is based at home, but periodic international travel (to Broadband Forum members’ meetings) is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Financial. Preparation and maintenance of annual budget. Execute expenses against budget and review financial status. Participate in annual financial audit and preparation of annual report. Maintenance of investment funds as directed by the Board. Requires understanding of GAAP, financial reports, investing goals and strategies.
  • Contracts. Prepare and issue RFPs and participate in vendor selection where applicable. Negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and test labs. Manage contract execution including deliverables and budget.
  • Legal, tax and regulatory compliance. Work with payroll vendors to ensure compliance with employer and employee tax withholding, reporting and payment requirements. Maintain corporate reports and registrations at state and national levels. Work with legal counsel as required to understand and ensure compliance in all business and labor dealings.
  • Communications. Maintain open communications between the Board, staff, members, and external organizations on operational matters as needed.
  • Intellectual Property. Work with members and legal counsel to ensure that IP policy is consistently and properly applied.
  • Policies and procedures definition and management. Work with Board committees to revise and update P&P as needed.
  • Oversee administration of Atlassian and other online tools for members and external community. Administer user, password manager, and EDR tools for staff. Maintain staff awareness of good cyber practices and risk mitigation.
  • Manage budget to align with goals of business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or technology, Master’s degree a plus.
  • 5+ years experience in one or more fields relevant to the skill set listed above.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills required. Must be proficient with tracking and executing multiple unrelated projects in parallel. Able to prioritize and deliver results in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Telecoms and/or global standards Non-profit organizations a plus.
