Liaising and Collaborating with Broadband Forum

Liaison

The Broadband Forum has always committed to cooperation and collaboration in the wider telecommunications industry. The forum champions innovative work throughout the industry and always look to avoid duplication of effort.

To drive aligned industry progress, the Broadband Forum has established liaisons and communicates its ongoing work and specifications to many different Standard Development Organizations (SDO’s) and industry Fora, and invites input and feedback to help ensure we are all working in agreement. These Liaison Relationships have been for the most part semi-formal, not requiring official agreements and mostly led by volunteers who are members of both organizations. These active liaison relationships accelerate standards and drive closer coordination of mutual technical work and the standardization progress of the broadband industry.

Submitting Liaisons: All liaisons to Broadband Forum should be addressed to the current Broadband Forum TC Chair with a carbon copy (CC) to: liaisons@broadband-forum.org

Liaisons may be received in many formats, e.g., as emails, as Microsoft Office documents (.doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, etc.), Adobe Acrobat files (.pdf), text files (.txt, .rtf) and/or archive files (.zip). For questions, please contact info@broadband-forum.org

Collaboration

Other organizations that the Forum collaborates with require more structured agreements due to disparate memberships, different organizational structures and different treatments of intellectual property (IP). These structured agreements come in different forms depending on what the two organizations are looking to accomplish; Cooperation Agreements aid discussions, while Collaboration Agreements facilitate practical collaboration of related work areas.
