Welcome to the first monthly Broadband Forum News, where we will showcase the great work from our members, as well as highlight our upcoming events and the important news impacting the telecoms industry. This month, our focus is on the connected home as we build up to our informative and interactive USP Summit in March. As the industry shifts from delivering fast connectivity and higher bandwidth to services-led networks that prioritize user experience, it is important that we continue to collaborate and learn about the challenges, solutions, and benefits of this transition.

Insights from BBF
- Pipeline published a Broadband Forum editorial contribution on ISP’s renewed focus on delivering more value-added services, discussing the integration challenges, the need for standardization, and outlining the benefits. Read more here.

News and Updates
- Broadband Forum announced its next USP Summit on 7-8 March 2024, following on from the success of last year’s event, which featured in Communications Today. Register for the BASe Technical and USP summit 2024 here.
- In conjunction with Omdia, the Broadband Forum issued The Future of the Connected Home: The Rise of Home Applications’ Whitepaper. Its findings were covered in an article produced by Mobile Europe. You can read the full report here.
- BASe members Calix, Domos, F-Secure, Friendly Technologies, Kaon Media, and Nokia came together to produce a whitepaper on Delivering differentiated service offerings and reducing customer churn in the connected home. The industry insight outlines the critical role that standards will play in helping broadband players unlock the full potential of the connected home. You can download the full whitepaper here.
- Craig Thomas’ appointment as CEO and more on the services-led broadband focus was captured in Fierce Telecom. We would also like to congratulate Tiffany Groves on her promotion to Senior Marketing Coordinator, and welcome Ken Pyle as Marketing Director and Karina Rocha-Gabbard as Operations and Support Manager.

USP 1.3
USP helps broadband service providers deploy, implement, and manage all aspects of the smart home. The USP data model, architecture, and communications protocol enable devices from multiple vendors to connect to the Wi-Fi home gateway for the broadband service provider to manage.
